The battle I fight is an internal one. I fight my thoughts all day every day. The biggest thing I fight with is being a burden to other people. I NEVER want to be a burden or create a problem. I don’t want to be the person that constantly is wearing down others and eventually burning them out. Basically, I don’t want to be a high maintenance friend.
With all that being said, I do have to say this: Life is hard. We need other people. We need people to laugh with, cry with, struggle with, and celebrate with. It is hard to let people in, and not everyone should be “in.” We need to surround ourselves with people that will build us up.
I read this quote the other day, “You are not a burden, you HAVE a burden. Which by definition is too heavy to carry on your own.” That is absolutely true. We need people, and with true friends we are never a burden. One day, they will need you to lean on.
I frequently feel that I am a burden on others. This just simply is not the case. I need to let people help me. I also need to be willing to help those around me. I frequently apologize. I am working on it!
The past few days have been very difficult and hard. I truly thank my circle of friends and family who have helped me get through it. Your prayers, texts, phone calls, and facebook messages have meant so much. That tells me that I AM NOT ALONE. Thank you!
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Two people are better than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
