“It’s obvious to this court that I am just solidifying something that has already happened. He certainly knows who his family is.”
That’s what the judge said during Jon’s adoption hearing exactly one year ago on June 14th, 2021. He said that after Jon had spent a majority of the hearing picking out people he knew and loudly letting everyone else know.
“HI KIMMY!”
“GRANDPA!”
“IT’S GRANDMA!”
It was hard to testify at times and everyone was laughing. He knows who his family is.
One whole year a Murphy. In that time, Jon has really grown. He has grown from a baby to a toddler and almost a little man. His words have exploded and you can have conversations with him. Jon is still small in size, but he makes up for it with his spunk. He loves to laugh and be silly. He likes to climb and jump and swing. He is my thrill seeker. He is a big mama’s boy who gives me lots of kisses and hugs. He was the part of our family that we didn’t know was missing.
Jon loves to love. He gets so excited to see his cousins, grandma, and aunt Kimmy and Kelly. He will yell LOUDLY when he sees either of his grandfathers. Which is perfect, because he has held both of their names since his birth. Jonathan Michael. It feels like it was almost meant to be.
His favorite human among all others is his big brother. Tripp and Jon fight and wrestle all day long, but when they are apart they miss each other substantially. I love their bond and know it will be long lasting.
Jon Jon is also a fighter. He has overcome so many obstacles and challenges. He has defied statistics in his short life. He stretches and grows me in ways I didn’t see coming, and I’m so thankful for that. He is a miracle child that does everything BIG.
One year down and a lifetime to go.
Koko
Jon Jon,
May you always know you are fiercely loved. You and Tripp are my greatest answers to prayer and I feel so lucky to get to love you. Watching you grow and become a little man is one of my greatest joys. Know that I will forever fight for you and love you more than I could ever say. I’m so proud to be your mama forever.
